  19. Subject: PackRat Phonebook Inaccessible from WinFax
  20.  
  21. Situation:
  22. ==========
  23. You cannot open the PackRat phonebook from the Send Fax dialog in 
  24. WinFax. This problem occurs after running the maintenance release patch 
  25. to upgrade your WinFax PRO 3.0 installation to the April 21, 1993 release 
  26. or later.

  28. Solution:
  29. =========
  30. To correct the problem, modify the [WfxPbLinks] section of your WIN.INI
  31. file. If this section does not exist, you must add it.
  32.  
  33. 1.  Open the WIN.INI file in Windows Notepad, or any other basic text 
  34.     editor.
  35.  
  36.     The WIN.INI file is located in your Windows directory (for example, 
  37.     C:\WINDOWS).
  38.  
  39. 2.  If it exists, the [WfxPbLinks] section appears as follows:
  40.  
  41.         [WfxPbLinks]
  42.         PackRat=1,packrat.exe,PackRat,System,PACK3
  43.         PackRat4.0=1,packrat.exe,PackRat,System,PACK3
  44.  
  45. 3.  Edit or add the [WfxPbLinks] section to reflect the location of the 
  46.     PackRat files on your hard drive for the version of the software you 
  47.     are using.
  48.  
  49.     For example, if your PackRat software is located in C:\PACKRAT, 
  50.     change or add the parameters as follows ...
  51.  
  52.     - For PackRat versions 3.x or 4.1, change the first parameter to:
  53.         
  54.         PackRat=1,c:\packrat,packrat.exe,PackRat,System,PACK3
  55.  
  56.     - For PackRat version 4.0, change the second parameter to:
  57.  
  58.         PackRat4.0=1,c:\packrat,packrat.exe,PackRat,System,PACK3
  59.  
  60.     - For PackRat version 5.0, add the following line:
  61.  
  62.         PackRat5.0=1,packrat.exe,PackRat,PhoneBook,PackRat
  63.  
  64.     Note:  These settings are not case sensitive.

  66. 4.  Save the changes to your WIN.INI file, and exit the text editor.
  67.  
  68.     Access to the PackRat phonebook is restored when you next start 
  69.     WinFax.
